Someone, Somewhere

Someone, somewhere, is getting up this morning, going to a hospital, getting hooked up to an I.V. which will deliver toxic chemicals into their bloodstream, all to fight a disease that is trying to kill them.

Someone, somewhere, is getting up this morning, going to the medicine cabinet, opening a bottle of pills that will send toxic chemicals into their bloodstream, all to fight a disease that is trying to kill them.

Someone, somewhere, is getting up this morning, with mouth sores, with muscle loss, with aching bones and screaming depression, without hair, without much dignity, because they are fighting a disease that is trying to kill them.

Someone, somewhere, is getting up this morning, and are trying to figure out how to pay for that last treatment, that last doctor visit, that last prescription, and still make the house payment, the rent payment, or buy food, all because of a disease that is trying to kill them.

Someone, somewhere, is getting up this morning, and even though they have lost a lot in this fight, they find the power to go to work everyday, to keep up their spirits, to keep hoping, to keep fighting, to keep living, to keep loving, even though they have a disease that is trying to kill them.

Someone, somewhere, is trying to get up this morning

And…they….just…..can’t.

To all the someone’s out there somewhere fighting the disease that is trying to kill you.

May peace and mercy be with you.

And may you find a way

To keep getting up in the morning.
